I have been in the health and wellness industry going on 15 years. Like a lot of people in my field, I started out heavy, lost weight, started working out and felt like I wanted to show other people how to do the same thing…yay! I found out very quickly that good intentions without adequate knowledge doesn’t go very far.

Every single person has a story and a reason behind their weight gain such as metabolic disorders (PCOS, Disbetes..etc), depression, anxiety, medications, trauma, lack of time, hormonal fluctuations, age, family history, sugar addiction, drug/alcohol addiction, working a sedentary job, working a job with overnight/late/flexing shifts, environment, mindset, pregnancy, genetics…the list goes on and on. Weight is not a simple solution.

I have read books, articles, and personal stories about how everything is so simple. Society is often told if people eat well balanced meals and consume less calories then you expend that *POOF* 50 lbs can magically come off. Everyday Americans are told to eat a certain way like vegan, low fat, high fat, low carb, paleo, no gluten, by your blood type, only one hour a day, Intermittent fasting, cabbage every other day and if you do one of those diets are the keys to success. Many people I know will pick one of these diets, stay on it for 2 weeks or 6 months, not see the results they want, life gets busy, stresses happen and they are back to square one.

I believe that your body is like a lawn. Most people want their lawn green, plush and weed free however there are weeds in their lawn. Everyone’s yard has weeds. Some yards have a few weeds while other yards are inundated with weeds. Solely picking a temporary eating style and exercising is like going through your yard plucking weeds out of your yard without pulling the root out. The weeds will always grow back. Sometimes the roots will spread and the weeds will grow back larger! It is quicker to pull the weeds out by the tops only. Your yard may look amazing for a little while but those darn weeds will show their heads again.

To get your yard weed free you have to do the work and pull the weeds out by the root one by one. It is time consuming and can sometimes be painful. The tools to “pull the weeds out” in reference to yourself is thinking of your life as a journey of wellness. In order to keep your yard healthy with fewer weeds is to be in balance mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, financially and chemically (hormonally). This is an ongoing process. New weeds will always float into your yard and the tools you will need to pluck these weeds out will shift. It is a never ending process.

For me, the keto/lower carbohydrate lifestyle works the best. I have always been plagued with hormonal/metabolic issues. I am supervised by a doctor, my personal health had improved and my personal numbers (cholesterol/ blood pressure/ A1C/ blood sugar…etc) look very good. This lifestyle works great for some and horrible for others. I am not advocating one eating style over another eating style. Please talk to your doctor/nutritionist and any professional that can steer you in your accurate eating direction. This blog is centered around the eating lifestyle I personally follow to be the healthiest me I can be.

I very recently had 2 babies back to back whom are my world. During my pregnancies I chose not to stick to my low carb/keto lifestyle (many women do stick to the keto/low carb lifestyle while pregnant- my personal choice was to eat all food groups). While pregnant I gained about 30-35lbs with each pregnancy. I have about 65lbs to lose. This blog is part of my ongoing journey to get back to my personal ideal weight.

Even if you follow a different eating lifestyle, the basis of whole health is all inclusive and for anyone whom chooses to listen and/or follow. I welcome all people.
