Vegas Birthday Surprise
My birthday is 5 days before Christmas. Can you imagine how I have felt for YEARS!? No matter how hard my parents tried, no friends were ever available because they were out of town or had family in town. This means I have NEVER had a birthday party. Ever. Almost all of my birthday presents were wrapped in Christmas paper. Everyone was so excited about Christmas the talk is usually ALWAYS how Everyone is exited for Christmas and how we are making Christmas cookies on Christmas Eve. I have had snow storms on almost every birthday and can hardly do anything or go anywhere! Year after year my birthday comes and goes and I never expect anything out of the ordinary. Decades of never having anything above and beyond happening has conditioned me to just expect nothing. If I don’t expect anything, I never have to be disappointed.
This year was the same ole’ same. Another year of a passed birthday without anything above the norm…except when I got off work at noon on Friday, my husband was home. What is going on!? It is NOON! Maybe he got fired! Oh my goodness. Not 3 days before my BIRTHDAY!!!!!!! My husband looked at me and said “pack your bags, I have planned a weekend in Vegas for us! SURPRISE!!!!!” Moments later, my mother walked in the door to babysit! My mouth dropped OPEN. He had joked around about going with another couple however they couldn’t go and my husband said he couldn’t take off during his “busy season.” Ofcourse,I let it go. That has been the norm for decades!
Normally I am the planner of EVERYTHING. I hate going on “vacations” because it is so much WORK for me. The minute we landed my husband had EVERYTHING under control. I simply relaxed. Black Pumas concert at the House of Blues, Dinner at Tao and On Top of the World, lunched planned, High Roller planned…all I did was ENJOY. This was by far the best birthday of my LIFE. I am beyond grateful ❤💝💕
